The Chicago Federal Center by Mies van der Rohe stood out most and inspired me the most on our exploration of Chicago. This set of buildings truly embody the Chicago design from the modernist steel structure to the recessed piloti lined lobby to the simple elegance of the tinted glass contained by black steel mullions.  The contrast of the two large skyscrapers to the beautiful post office had me  in awe and admiration with how one can achieve a sense of openness in such as dense city. I want to also bring this simplicity and preciseness into all aspects of my design as well as incorporate the urban feel into the middle school.
